Judge Instructions
Thank you for participating in this important process of being a scholarship selection committee Judge! Below you will find a short video and instructions for how to access and score student scholarship applications. If you should experience issues, first try to contact system administration using the chat feature on the ISTS website. If you are unable to receive the appropriate help through them, don't hesitate to contact us. You can also access our Committee Frequently Asked Questions page.
1. Check Your Email
You should have received an email from your Selection Committee Chair with details including your designated username and password as well as instructions for how they would like you to score student scholarship applications and a deadline for submitting your scores. This email should also include a copy of the Sisters GRO Scholarship Selection Committee Policies and Agreements form which you will need to sign and return to the Chair.
2. Login
Login to the Application Scoring Site using your designated username and password. Do NOT create a new account under a personal email address. If you experience and issues logging in, click here.
3. Access Student Applications
Once you are logged in, you will find a list of student applicants on your Home Page. Click on each applicant's name in the table to open their application (note: depending on your network speed this might take a minute, please be patient).
There are additional links on the student's application page to access their transcript and portfolios if applicable.
4. Score Applications
The Chair may ask you to send scores directly to them, bring scores to a meeting, or submit scores online.
If you are asked to submit your scores online you have the ability to enter scores in the system for the following sections: Academics, Financial, General Essays, Scholarship Specific Essay (if applicable), and Recommendations. Each of these sections are scored 0-10.
Notes: the Activities section is pre-scored by ISTS. You can review Activities scores on the application to consider in your scoring process. In addition, you will see all student Recommendations that were requested. Only review and score those that are relevant for your scholarship.
There is also an option to enter an Overall Score at the end of the application. This section is scored from 0-20. You might be asked to submit an Overall Score in addition to other sections, or you might be asked to only submit an Overall Score.
It does not matter how hard or easy you score the applications, as long as you are consistent throughout all of the applications that you are scoring. Some Judges have found it to be best practice to read through all of the applications one time before returning to score individual submissions.
If you would like assistance with understanding how to score applications, refer to the application scoring rubric.
5. Hit Submit
If you have filled in each section correctly, your score will be saved and you will return to the Home Page where you can select the next applicant to review. If there is an issue, you will see an error message on the screen informing you of what you need to do to submit your scores.
6. Review Scores and Select Recipients
Likely you will hold a phone, virtual or in-person meeting to discuss the top scoring applicants and agree on a finalist or finalists to receive your scholarship.
7. Enjoy Your Good Deed
Your selection committee Chair will submit the chosen finalist(s) to Sisters GRO. Once this process is completed, take time to reflect on what you learned from and about the candidates for your scholarship and have pride in knowing that you are making a difference in their lives. Thank you!
